The Yantai Salvage Bureau of the Ministry of Transport, established in 1974, is the only national professional emergency rescue and salvage team in the northern waters of China. It is an important component of the national emergency rescue and rescue system and an important force in national defense transportation and combat readiness. It is responsible for the rescue of non-human lives in the northern sea areas of China and in the harbors, the salvage of sunken ships and aircraft in distress, and the removal of oil spills at sea. It owns 44 salvage engineering ships, salvage tugs, salvage barges, etc., with the maximum lifting capacity of 5000 tons per ship, the maximum power of the tugboat of 15,000 horsepower and the maximum lifting buoyancy of the barge of 20,000 tons. At the same time, there are also special rescue and salvage equipments such as 3000-meter-class ROV (underwater robot), oil spill recovery equipment, and Bverb diving system, with total assets of about 8.4 billion yuan.
